Sunday Singing

Well after a great night of rest and sleep, Evie slept from 10pmish to 4amish - a full 6 hours, we were very happy to be getting ready for church this Sunday morning. Pictures to prove it below...

For some reason she loves hanging out on her changing table... kicking her feet, singing, talking, cooing, waving her arms and having a good time. Nothing like a good changing table. The funniest part of the morning is that the pants she has on in these pictures... not what she had on at church - had a poopy accident before we got out the door. Time for bigger diapers!

Saturday Visitors

What better on a cold, sunny, windy Saturday afternoon in March than to have lovely visitors who come and ohh and ahh over me and bring me such cute outfits. Today I had two sisters come visit that just made my day. Mrs. Kathy and Mrs. Terry were so much fun and I had my happy face on for them the whole time. I didn't even spit up on Mrs. Terry when she fed me and burped me. What a big girl!

A very fancy dress with cute green panties from Mrs. Kathy, an adorable smocked red dress made by Mrs. Terry and some Pooh knickers to go with. So fun!
The sisters...These two are pros at that baby stuff!

Thank you ladies (and Mr. Larry) for such a fun afternoon. We all enjoyed seeing you!

New Shots and Sounds

Evie has been practicing her singing voice lately. She's starting to coo and squeak and grunt. It's so cute. And she's flashed some pretty amazing smiles our way the last week. That little toothless grin just makes our hearts melt.

(Disclaimer on the following photos... The "big girl chair" was only for picture purposes, she chills out in her baby chair. And the "fussy" shot happened instantaneously when I was trying to get a shot of the "sweet pea" bib for her Pawpaw...I promise I don't let her fuss just to get a photo, but the drama of it all was pretty funny on camera)

Here's some fun pics from the past few days:

They handled bath time. I love bath time!

Better stick to my-size chairs. SO COMFY! But I gotta work on sitting "lady-like" my mom tells me.

Packing on the Pound

Our little Evelyne had her one month check-up this morning. Mom was probably more nervous than her, but thankfully, this visit did not involve any shots. She weighed in at a modest 9.1lb and is now 21 inches long. That's up from 7.10lb and 19 1/2 inches last month. I told her that I wanted her to gain weight, but watch out that she doesn't inherit the double cheeks that her mom had as an infant (pictures of that in an upcoming post).

She is certainly filling out and the doctor said she was a healthy little baby. (Sigh of relief) It's been a learning curve the past week and a half. I've been working hard to learn her patterns and striving to get her on a schedule. (Sleep deprivation is such a motivator) She's been waking once at night around 2:00am or 3:00am.

Not too bad, my girl! We'll get to sleeping through the night, but for now it's important that you grow.

A few pictures from the week:

Sleeping...did that a lot this week. (Explains the lack of pictures)

Sleeping again. Even Mr. Turtle couldn't keep me awake.

Weekends Off?

Little Evie,
When we found out that you were coming into our lives and began to prepare for parenthood, we knew it would be a complete life change. Parenthood is not Monday-Friday; 8-5... it is a 24/7 role that we are now very happy to be playing in your life. However, when preparing my mind for this transition, I don't think I factored in the fact that you would not be willing to sleep in on Saturdays. Don't misunderstand your mommy...you were born to two young adults who act much, much older than their age by being early risers. But 2am and 4am are not my idea of sleeping in on Saturdays. Could we push that feeding to around 6am?
I know that this will all come in good time and you are doing fabulous with eating, sleeping and pooping. You are a star at being cute and adorable and when you need something (even if it's just that you want to be held), you let us know with that hefty set of pipes you were born with. So, for a little one who is just over 3 weeks old, you're doing pretty good. We're so proud of you!
It has been one fun week. We had visits from both of your grandmothers. I absolutely love to watch your grandmothers hold you and coo at you. I love to hand you over to them when your fussy and watch them calm you down in a way that only a loving grandmother can do. I also love to pass you off to them when you have a dirty diaper and watch them change you with a look on their face that says "Wow, I haven't done THIS in a while!"
I love to watch you smile when you're awake and when you're in that peaceful baby slumber. I learn so much more about you each and every day and I'm pretty sure you get more beautiful every single day. I can't wait to see what this week brings.
Love, mom

Pics from Evie

I had quite the exciting week. I got to see BOTH of my grandmothers. I got to meet the folks at my mom's work and I went to a birthday party for Miss Lili and saw my Burleson family.

Big Yawn! Grandma Susie sure knows how to get me to sleep.
Grandma Shara getting me all snuggled down.

Ready to meet the folks at Cornerstone.

Enjoying the warm weather in my pretty Lady Bug Dress
Happy Birthday Lili! And thank you for singing to me in Spanish.
Ahhh... I love hangin' with Laura.
Mrs. Cindy...she's great! And she knows how to calm me down.
Talking to Mrs. Tenille. She's so fun!

Whew! What a week. I think it's safe to say that I was held and loved on quite a bit. It's left me pretty exhausted so I'll see you folks again soon. Love, Evie

I should be Sleeping...

...because you are sleeping. But I thought it would be more fun to post some pictures of your first visit to church.
Love, Mom

Evie did super good for her first time to church. We took her to our Sunday School class and she slept through the whole lesson. Then we decided to brave the worship service. She was zonked through the singing, but when the preaching started...she decided it was time to leave. We were happy to get out this morning and attend services. Amazingly, we arrived earlier than usual. A few pictures from the last couple of days.
