"there were never such devoted sisters..."

We do everything together...
Swim, save the universe, shop, bathe and eat.

A Foggy Morning

This morning Evie and Mike walked outside with me to the car.
Evie walks out the door and says in a surprised tone, “Daddy, it’s SNOWING?!?!”
“No baby.  Sorry, that’s just fog.”

She was pretty excited there for a moment.
How do you explain “fog” to a three year old?

15 Month Mavery

Sweet Mavery is 15 months old!  She is getting such a cute personality.  Mavery is running these days and she really loves to climb.  She has a favorite white satin blanket that she holds and sucks her thumb while falling asleep.  She is saying baba, dadeee, woof woof, and when she sees Evie she squeels Eeeeeeee!!  She is giving those sweet slobbery open mouth baby kisses and she gives Evie the most kisses.  Anything Evie does, Mavery is right behind her trying to copy, surprise surprise!
It's so fun watching her develop a personality and learn new things every day.  She has learned to throw a fit, especially when we take away the phone or the car keys.
Mavery is an eater just like her sister.  Maybe I should add that she is a MESSY eater just like her big sister!
It's been a fun summer and I'm excited about what the fall has in store for us!

My BFF

This weekend Evie and I made a quick trip to Fort Worth. We went to her best friend's birthday party. Abigail turned three years old. It was the sweetest reunion seeing them hug each other and talk talk talk like long lost friends. These sweet girls hold a special place in my heart. I have so many sweet memories and pictures of the two of them but here are some of my favorites. They grow up SO fast. It is a blessing to see my little girl have such a special friendship. Happy Birthday Abs! We love you!

From the mouth of my babe...

This morning as I was in the bathroom getting ready, Evie pokes her head in.  She was all sweet and sleepy-eyed.
She occupies herself by going through my makeup bag and copying everything I’m doing as I get dressed.  So we finish up and get ready to walk to the kitchen.
Evie says to me, “Mommy, you look so pretty.  Where you going today?” (she asks this every morning probably hoping that the answer will be different than “work”)
So I tell her, “Well, mommy is going to work.”
Evie, “No mommy, you stay here today.”
Me, “Well Evie, if I don’t go to work, they won’t give me a paycheck.”
“A paycheck??!?!”, says Evie with a confused and grimaced face.
“Yes Evie, a paycheck.  So that we can buy groceries and things we need.  Mommy must go to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and on Friday they will give me a paycheck.”
Evie, “Oh, well stay here today Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday you go to work and get your paycheck and we’ll go to the grocery store.”

Problem solved! Makes sense to me!

I SO wish it worked that way!
