On Sunday, February 2nd my only sibling suffered a
massive stroke. On Tuesday, February 4th,
he went to be with the Lord. He was 39
years old. He left behind a father, a
mother, a wife, two sons and a little sister.
All of who are heartbroken to see him leave this earth so early in his
life.
The words I’ll use to describe my
brother are “big kid”. Robert Lee Davis
or “Lee” as everyone knew him was a big kid and we never knew what he would
come up with next. Lee had a huge heart
and would accept people as they were.
Unlike his little sister, Lee never really judged anyone, except when
they did not do their job at work. Lee
was a hard worker from the time he could push a lawn mower, he started mowing yards around our little
neighborhood to earn a little spending money.
My brother and I grew up in a
little house in a sweet little neighborhood where it was safe to ride your bike
without parental supervision. My brother
was always out being a dirty little boy, riding his bike, fishing at the “gravel
pits” and getting into typical little boy predicaments. Lee liked to have fun, he liked to be with
friends and he always kept us laughing with his silly stunts.
I remember lots of wrestling in the
living room floor with my brother when we were little (which usually ended up
with me getting hurt and him getting in trouble). I remember the first time that my brother
“came to my rescue” to protect his little sister.
I remember growing up with my
brother and being the annoying and whiney little sister that no one wants
around. (but mom made him and his
friends play with me at times). Those were some of the most fun times I can remember as a child, because no
matter how much I didn’t like my older brother, his friends were always cooler
and funnier than anyone my own age. Even
though he would pick on me and make fun of me to no end, I just kept coming
back around like a little puppy because he was just the cooler older
brother.
My brother always made me laugh. He
said some of the craziest things that no one else would ever think of. I will always remember him with a huge smile
on his face. There are so many childhood memories with my brother; growing up together in our little neighborhood, family vacations and camping trips, holidays and all the fun memories of the Timber Crest Baptist Church youth group.
Lee has two sweet sons, Trenton Lee
and Hunter Allen.
Lee married his wife
Lisa about 6 years ago.
I was so proud
of him for making a commitment to her and for being a husband to her.
Lisa was Lee’s little angel here on earth.
She took care of him and made sure he took
care of himself.
My family loves Lisa
and we are truly thankful to her for her committed love to Lee, Trenton and
Hunter.
We will greatly miss the kind-hearted man that we knew him to be.
Mom and Dad will miss their son.
My sweet nephews will miss their
father.
Lisa will miss her husband.
Mike will miss his
brother-in-law.
My daughters will miss Uncle Lee.
My aunts will miss their nephew.
I will miss my big brother…until we
meet again.
