Learning to be Sisters

These sweet sisters are growing up and learning to be friends. A few nights ago after Mavery had gone to bed, Evie said to me “Mommy, I want to make Mavery a card. She’s my best friend.” It was a sweet moment. But I think she had forgotten all about it the next morning. Baby steps…

They don’t always play nicely together. They fight. They tell each other “no!” They always want what the other one has. They’re typical.

But they are getting better about being friends and playing together. Evie is learning to take on the role of “big sister”. She always wants to bathe Mavery and wash her hair in the tub at night. It’s sweet. Although Mavery doesn’t necessarily think so when Evie is pouring water down her face. Again, baby steps…

These are a few glimpses of “sister time” from the past few weeks. Evie helped Mavery learn how to paint with water colors. (even though all Mavery wants to do at this age is eat the paint…) I often make them sit in the same chair next to one another before bed and drink their milk. The gave one another moral support at the doctor’s office. I STILL think it’s cute to dress them alike. And, they ganged up on me the other night and gave me a make-over. Precious!
