The zoo, the park, and the mall

This past weekend we started off with breakfast at the park across the street.  Then we played on the play ground.  Mommy still has room for Mavery in her lap... barely...

Sunday, Mommy took the girls to the zoo, as promised.  Mommy isn't very sure why she promised to take the girls to the zoo in July...6 months pregnant.  

Although it was HOT, we had fun.  And the splash pad was running, so we were able to cool off for a bit.

On Monday, Evie went to the dentist for the first time and she did great!  Then we went to ballet and to the mall for lunch.  The girls love playing in the Ice Cream truck:

The girls started a summer ballet class this past Monday.  They seem to really enjoy it and are having lots of fun!

Independence Day Weekend

We had a fun weekend celebrating the 4th of July this year.

Evie and Mavery started things off with a parade at their preschool.

All of the children were decked out in red, white, and blue!

This picture of Evie carrying the flag for her class was actually on the front page of the Waco Tribune Herald on Saturday!

The girls were introduced to sparklers this year.

Mavery was a big fan.  Evie was not so sure about holding one.

Evie and Daddy had a date Saturday morning at Home Depot to make a bug catcher.

She was quite proud of her accomplishment.

So, we caught a cricket, a frog and a grasshopper.

The Older Sister

 Evie has been teaching Mavery some, uh, life lessons lately.

The other day, I walked into this scene/conversation.  

Mavery was sitting on the potty, first thing in the morning.  Evie was standing next to her telling her the following:

"Mavery, your birthday is coming soon and you will be three years old.  After three, you will turn four, and after four you will be five...(and so on and so on)...and then you turn 20 and then you die."

I wondered if I should intervene at this point, but since  (a still very sleepy) Mavery was staring blankly at Evie, I left well enough alone.

What will they come up with next???

Pre-K Graduation

Evie had her pre-K graduation two weeks ago.  The class did a little singing performance and then they received their very own Bible from the teachers.
